At the gateway of the nearly impossible a gift And could you in this instant see the trees from which it came? See the saplings of promise that rose to the sun and knew your name and by hands of the lost as their time came (as your time came) cut down carved out that you shall both blot out the sun? For every king a tribute and you who held the world will now hold And you will hold this And you will carry this And you in the span of an afternoon sun will be driven through to this Forever this moment remembered by the ages and written about by poets long since forgotten will be carved into us We see now only the dark echo of the rock upon which they broke you And yes now it begins The kingdoms of the earth know nothing of glory Know nothing at all… |
