Jesus Meets His Mother

In this Station Mary, Jesus' mother, goes to comfort him. Look closely and even though they face each another, their eyes cannot meet. Even the thorns have cut her.

We are asked to contemplate "If we knew we were to die soon, what would you say to the person you loved the most?"

Scriptural reference implied. Though this moment is not depicted in scripture it can be assumed that Mary was with Jesus for His entire journey to the cross. She was His mother and is one of the few who stayed with Him and is seen at Golgotha along with a number of women including Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, Salome and the apostle John.
